Henry Acland, Radio New Zealand, 31st May 2009
Radio New Zealand reporter Chris Bramwell interviews Beijing-based Henry Acland regarding advice for NZ companies considering setting-up and selling products in China. The Insight programme that the interview is part of, investigates how the impact of the recession on China might affect trade with NZ. Henry talks about the difficulties NZ companies face when trying to get a foothold in China.
"The difficulty with doing trade with China, or trying to get a foothold, is all these unseen problems. Law in China is very difficult in terms of it's one thing to get an outcome in the courts and then to get enforcement is difficult also," states Henry Acland in the interview.
Before talking with Radio NZ, Henry consulted with Shen Mingming, director of the Research Center of Contemporary China (RCCC), Peking University, and Jeff Blackburn, director of Blackburn Croft & Co Limited, an Auckland based trade consultancy, about the issues that were likely to be raised.
